MACRAME FRINGE WALL HANGING

INSTRUCTIONS

KNOTS USED (with Abbreviations)

Larks Head Knots on Mounting Cord (L.H. & M.C)

Step 1 - Cut W.C. - 60 x 2.5 metres.

Step 2 - Fold W.C.s in half and attach to rod using a L.H. knot. There are now 120 lengths.

Step 3 - Using all cords, work 30 S.Ks. for the first row of knots.

Step 4 - Skip first 2 cords, make 1 S.K. with next 4 cords, skip 12 cords, make 1 S.K. with next 4 cords. Skip 4 cords, make 5 S.Ks with next 20 cords, skip 4 cords, repeat from once more, make 1 S.K. with next 4 cords, skip 12 cords, make 1 S.K. with next 4 cords, last 2 cords are not worked.

Step 5 - Skip first 4 cords, make 1 S.K. with next 4 cords, make a multi cord S.K. with 2 cords on each side as W.C, and 4 cords in the middle as F.C. make 1 S.K. with next 4 cords. Skip 8 cords, make 4 S.Ks with next 16 cords, skip 8 cords, repeat from once more, make 1 S.K. with next 4 cords, make a multi cord S.K. with 2 cords on each side as W.C, and 4 cords in the middle as F.C, make 1 S.K. with next 4 cords, last 4 cords are not worked.

Step 6 - Skip first 6 cords, make 1 S.K. with next 4 cords, skip next 4 cords, make 1 S.K. with next 4 cords. Skip 12 cords, make 3 S.Ks with next 12 cords, skip 12 cords, repeat from once more, make 1 S.K. with next 4 cords, skip 12 cords, make 1 S.K. with next 4 cords, skip 4 cords make 1 S.K. with next 4 cords. last 6 cords are not worked.

Step 7 - Skip first 8 cords, make 2 S.K. with next 8 cords, skip next 16 cords, repeat from 3 more times, skip 16 cords make 2 S.K. with next 8 cords, last 8 cords are not worked.

Step 8 - Skip first 10 cords, make 1 S.K. with next 4 cords, skip next 20 cords, repeat from 3 more times, skip 20 cords make 1 S.K. with next 4 cords, last 10 cords are not worked.

Step 11 - Using first cord as F.C. Lay at a diagonal below S.K. triangle, using next 11 cords work D.D.H.H.R with each cord.

Step 12 - Cross over W.C. 24&25, these will now be F.C.s Working from right to left, work a row of H.H.D.D.L. from W.C. 23 to 13, around the F.C. following the angle of the alternating S.K.s

Step 13 - Using first F.C. work a D.D.H.H.R with second F.C. to complete the point.

Step 14 - Repeat with remaining 4 triangle.

Step 15 - Cut upper fringe lengths. - 110 x 60cms long in Dusty Rose.

Step 16 - Fold a fringe cord in half and wrap around the 2nd cord with fold at the back, and 2 lengths either side to the front. Using the first cord as F.C. work D.D.H.H.R with the 2nd cord to lock the fringe in place. To further secure the fringe work an single Half Hitch knot with the fringe cords.

Step 17 - Continue to add a fringe to each cord and complete all the triangles.

Step 18 - Measure down 20cms and work a row of S.Ks across the work.

Step 19 - Continue to make triangles where triangle 1, 3 & 5 are full Alternating S.Ks, and triangles 2 & 4 are worked as the 1st triangle in the top row, with the feature multi cord S.K.

Step 20 - Close off the triangles by repeating Steps 11 to 14.

Step 21 - Repeat Steps 15 to 17 using the Burgundy cord for the fringe.

Step 22 - Trim Fringe to 20cms following the shape of the Triangles. (Note: A cutting board and rotary cutter can also be used to trim the fringe.

Step 23 - Hang using Cup hooks.
