DIY Chalk Paint Vases
LEVEL: EASY
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
- 1/2 cup baking powder (not bicarb soda)
- 1 cup Semco acrylic paint in colour of your choice
- Large flat brush
- Living Space Winter Coastal Ceramic Vases & Living Space Baila Vase or any vases of your choice
- Plastic container for mixing paint
INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1 - Fill the container with 1 cup of paint. In this project, we mixed brown, orange and white for the terracotta vase and white for the white vase.
Step 2 - Add in 1/2 cup of baking powder, make sure you are not using bicarb powder. Stir well with a wooden stick or spoon to remove all clumps of powder. It will become very fizzy & bubbly but will settle quickly.
Step 3 - Dip your paint brush and remove any excess paint Start painting the vase from top to bottom, the first layer will be streaky but let dry completely then paint another layer. We recommend 3 layers to build up the paint.
Step 4 - Repeat step 3 in a different colour if you wish to add any interesting layers & patterns.
Step 5 - Carefully place your vases on a drying rack so the excess paint drips off. If you leave it on newspaper, it can soak through it and stick to the vase.
Step 6 - Display your vases as decoration or gift to a friend or family member your creation.
