TULLE EMBROIDERY HOOP
LEVEL: INTERMEDIATE
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
- Large embroidery hoop
- Tulle
- Paper flowers
- Embroidery floss
- Embroidery needle
- Tacky craft glue
- Scissors
- Scrap paper
INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1 - Double your tulle over so you have two layers when you place it in your hoop. Make sure it's quite taut, but be careful not to pull too hard, as it is easy to tear.
Step 2 - Position your flowers where you want them to sit on the tulle.
Step 3 - Glue them in place with tacky craft glue. To keep them secure, place a small square of paper behind each flower as you go so the glue has a flatter surface to stick to through the Tulle.
Step 4 - For heavier flowers, add a couple of stitches on outer petals to secure firmly. These stitches can be hidden by overlapping petals.
Step 5 - Embroider leaves around your flowers. We used satin stitch, backstitch, and lazy daisy stitch. Remember to work gently as the tulle is fragile, and to sew in any thread tails as they will be visible from the front.
