SPIDERMAN ZIP SATCHEL & PENCIL CASE

INSTRUCTIONS

BEAN BAG

Step 1 - Cutting

Zip Satchel - Cut two 37cm x 30cm rectangles from Spiderman fabric, homespun lining and interfacing.

Pencil Case- Cut one 27cm x 18cm rectangle from Spiderman fabric, homespun lining and interfacing.

Step 2 - Fuse interfacing to wrong side of all Spiderman fabric pieces.

Step 3 - Place one interfaced satchel rectangle right side up and centre 35cm zipper wrong side up along the top edge so fabric and zipper are right sides facing. With zipper centered, open zipper a few inches and pin in place so the edge of the zipper is aligned with the top edge of fabric.

Step 4 - Using zipper foot to sew down open edge, stop with needle down and lift foot. Carefully close zipper, lower foot and sew to end. Remove from machine. Place one lining piece wrong side up, on top of zipper and bag piece. Pin in place then flip work over and sew along previous stitching line. Flip the lining all the way over so the lining and bag are wrong sides together and press flat.

Step 5 - Repeat steps 3 and 4 to attach the other satchel and lining pieces to the other side of the zipper. Topstitch down each side of the zipper through satchel, zipper and lining.

Step 6 - To finish Open zipper half way. Pin satchel pieces right sides together and pin lining pieces right sides together. Sew together leaving an 8cm opening in the bottom of the lining, taking care when stitching across the zipper.

Step 7 - Reach in and open zipper. Clip corners and turn right side out through opening in lining. Turn seam allowance of opening in lining to the inside and hand or machine stitch closed. Press well. Push lining into satchel and close zipper.

Step 8 - Repeat steps 3-7 using 25cm zipper to make the pencil case.
