How to clean a candle jar

You can reuse Yankee Candle jars for storing homemade jams, paints or even your own handmade candles! To clean leftover wax out of a jar, let it harden and then scrape out with a spoon into the bin - never pour any wax, hot or cold, down the sink. You can also pour boiling water into the candle jar - water and wax don't mix, so the old wax should rise to the top of the jar, which you can then strain once it has cooled off. Finally, candle wax tends to shrink when frozen, so you can pop your old jar candles in the freezer to make the wax much easier to remove.

How to get candle wax off carpet

Once the wax has dried, scrape off as much as you can with a butter knife or spoon. Dampen a white terry cloth and place it over the wax. Set your iron to high and hold it over the wax on the towel for around ten seconds, and you will notice the towel will take on the colour of the wax as it absorbs it from the carpet. Continue this process until all of the wax is gone, and finish with a strong carpet cleaning solution if the wax has left a stain.
