KIWI STUFFED ANIMAL
Level: Intermediate
What You'll Need:
- 0.60cm Plain 150 cm Minky Dot Polar Fleece Fabric
- 1 Arbee Viscose Wool Felt Sheet Black A4
- Thread
- Scissors
- Sewing needle
- Sewing Machine
INSTRUCTIONS
5mm seam allowance used throughout unless otherwise indicated.
Read all instructions carefully before commencing the project.
Making the Body and Head
Step 1- Using the template, cut the body and head pieces out of the main body fabric.
Step 2 - Laying two of the body pieces right side facing, pin along one side. Sew together.
Step 3- Taking the next piece of the template pin along the other side of the joint section. Ensure that the pointed ends are meeting and that you are sewing seams to meet.
Step 4 - Repeat Step 2-3 for all remaining open sides of the ball.
Step 5 - Repeat this process with the smaller template pieces to create the head of the Kiwi Bird.
Step 6- Using the hobby fill, stuff both the head and body of the Kiwi to desired fullness.
Step 7 - Using the sewing needle join the head opening to the body opening, add extra hobby fill as you sew to provide more neck support and create a fuller shape.
Making the Beak and Feet
Step 1 - Cut the beak and feet out of the felt fabric.
Step 2- Using the sewing machine, sew around the beak leaving an opening at the wider end. Stuff with hobby fill. Leave this opening open.
Step 3- Using the sewing machine, sew around the feet between the notches indicated on the template.
Step 4 -Make small cuts around the toes to help turn out the feet to have smooth curve.
Step 5 - Turn feet out and gently push the toes out with the tip of scissors. Stuff with hobby fill to desired fullness.
Step 6 - Using a sewing needle, close the feet opening on both feet.
Creating the Kiwi
Step 1- Using a sewing needle and thread, hand sew the eyes, beak and feet into the body of the Kiwi creating your desired look and personality.
