Cutting
All strips are cut across the width of fabric unless otherwise stated.
- From one of the Fabrics cut 4 x 2" (5 cm) strips to cover the wreath.
- From remaining fabrics cut a total of 11 x 7 " (19 cm) wide strips.
- Cut the interfacing into 2 x 1.05 m lengths.
Covering the Wreath
Step 1 - Take the 4 x 2" for covering the wreath and secure one end using two sequin pins. Wrap fabric around the wreath overlapping edges as you go. Continue back the start and secure end with sequin pins.
Step 2 - Tie hanging ribbon around the wreath leaving ends free.
Fuse Interfacing
Step 3 - Cut each length of interfacing into 7 " (19 cm) wide strips down the length.
Step 4 - Place one 7 " length of fabric wrong side down onto one strip of interfacing and fuse as per manufacturer's instructions.
Step 5 - Repeat Step 4 to fuse interfacing to wrong side of each 7 " length of fabric.
Cutting Strips
Step 6 - Cut each 7 " length of fused fabric into 2" wide strips. Continue cutting fused fabric lengths into 2" wide strips until you have a total of approx 160 strips 7 " x 2".
Attaching Strips Together
Step 8 - Thread sewing machine with matching red thread and arrange strips in desired order.
Step 9 - Fold strip in half with short ends together. Holding ends together flat pinch a pleat in the centre, feed under sewing machine foot and sew.
Step 10 - Take the next strip, fold in half and holding ends together flat pinch a pleat in the centre, feed under sewing machine foot with the edge overlapping the previous strip and sew.
Step 11 - Repeat Step 10 folding strips, creating a pleat and sew overlapping the previous strip. Continue until you have stitched together approx. 60 strips. The number for each round will vary as to how much your strips overlap.
Attaching to Wreath
Step 12 - Take the length of strips and place first the strips on the centre of the curve with folded edge facing away from the centre. Secure with sequin pins. Work around the wreath securing with sequin pins as you go. Continue back to the start and pin to secure. Cut the thread to remove any excess strips. If you need more strips repeat Step 10.
Step 13 - Repeat Steps 10 and 11 to create two more rounds of strips.
Step 14 - Using sequin pins attach the 2nd round down the curve towards the centre but with the folds overlapping the pinned edge of the first round.
Step 15 - Attach the inside round from underneath the inside edge of the wreath with the fold overlapping the previous round.
Step 16 - Tie the ends of the hanging ribbon into a knot and fluff up loops of folded strips.
