DECORATIVE BUNTING

By @EMMYLOU_LOVES
Level: Easy
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
- 2 x 1.5 metre of printed cotton width 147cm (you will need approx. 50 pieces in each colourway)
- 15 metres of bias binding
- Scissors / pinking shears
- Matching threads
- Pins
- Measuring tape
- Chalk to mark fabric
- Cardboard or paper for the pattern piece
- Sewing machine
INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1 - Draw a 23cm line with a 15cm half-moon crescent shape to create your pattern. Cut out
Step 2 - Lay fabric down the wrong side facing upward. Place pattern and mark out with chalk. Continue and mark out all 30 pieces. Remember to leave a little space in between and below each to allow for cutting.
Step 3 - Cut out the shapes using scissors for the top and pinking shears for the curve (if using) Pile the cut outs in groups of two, one face down with one face out. This makes it easier when you start to sew. Repeat for all fabrics/colours.
Step 4 - Turn the fabric over and lightly cover the back of the fabric with spray adhesive, then press two pieces together back-to-back.
Step 5 - Layout your bias binding and measure 2.5 meters in (this excess is for hanging purposes). Start pinning the two bundled pieces to the bias binding (sandwiched underneath ready to sew) interchanging between the three colours to create a pattern.
Step 6 - Start machining the binding to the pieces, taking care and removing pins as you move across the fabric.
Step 7 - To finish, tie the ends of the binding around a tree or hook to hang your binding on display!
