INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1. Cut piece of hessian to dimensions 131 x 97cm, and overlock all edges.
Step 2. Fold sides of the calendar base and hem back 2cm, and topstitch in matching thread. Fold the top back 11cm and stitch secure, forming a loop for the dowel hanging rod.
Step 3. Listed adjacent are the pocket sizes for the calendar. Add a border of 1 centimetre for seam allowance around each pocket. Cut the pieces in the assigned patterned fabric. The numbers correspond to each pocket placement.
Step 4. Fold each pocket piece down 1cm at the top, and topstitch edge. Safety stitch the edges back 1cm on all pieces.
Step 5. Starting from 15cm below the top, and 4.5cm in from the left, pin the pockets on the
hessian backing. Following the photograph, block them together forming a rectangle. There will be a 5cm gap between the final row of pockets and the hem of the calendar.
Step 6. Edge stitch each pocket down to the backing.
Step 7. Using the stencil set, trace the numbers to the right side of the pocket 1cm down and 1.5cm from the edge.
Step 8. Mark the stencilled digits of each pocket using the black and white fabric paint.
