What is burlap made of?

Burlap is made from the woven fibres of the jute plant. Burlap is naturally a light brown colour, although you will also find it in white, cream and black at Spotlight.

What can you make with burlap?

Because it is a coarse and rough material, burlap should not be used to make clothes that will sit against the skin. It can be used to add interest to clothing, such as the trim around a hat or the ribbon for a hair clip. Burlap can be used in the place of any craft fabric in many projects, such as for a wreath, placemat, coaster, the trim around a cushion or as a lampshade or valance.

What glues can I use with craft hessian fabric?

Decoupage glue, craft glue and hot glue from a glue gun are the best types of glue to use when working with hessian. If you are sticking your craft burlap to another fabric, then fabric glue is also a good choice.
