What type of fabric is voile?

Voile is a type of sheer fabric that comes in a wide range of colours and designs. Voile is usually made out of polyester which makes them an affordable option for curtains and other sewing projects.

Voile is made using a plain weave making them more similar to net curtains. The plain weave allows voile to have a semi sheer look which makes them great choices for curtains if you more ambient light in a space, but would still like to have a good amount of privacy. It also gives the added benefit of blocking a lot of the sun's harmful UV rays. You can also use voile curtains to keep mosquitos and insects out when you want to let in the breeze by opening up a few windows.
