What you'll need:
- Shoelaces (flat or round)
- Crafters Choice Beads & Charms Pastel pack
- Crafters Choice Beads & Charms Bright pack
- Crafters Choice Beads & Charms Midtone pack
- Crafters Choice Pony Beads & Alphabet pack
- Crafters Choice Novelty Charm pack
- Ribtex Jewellery Stringing Non Stretched Nylon Beading Thread (Clear)
- Crafters Choice Lobster Clasps (Optional, as some come in the Bead & charm packs)
- Bead board (optional)
- Glue (optional) - suggested Gorilla Super glue
Instructions
- Choose shoelaces you would like to decorate.
- Select your beads (The beads in the kits listed above are what was used and are large enough to thread a shoelace through)
- Plan your design by laying the beads & charms out on a flat surface or on a bead board to decide how you want to arrange them on your shoelaces.
- Insert the lace into one of the bottom eyelets on the shoe then thread the selected beads & charms on, then thread the shoelace into the opposite eyelet making sure to leave equal lengths on both sides.
- Repeat this process all the way to the top eyelets.
- If you're wanting to have beads on the ends of the laces you can place a knot on either side of the bead or you can use a bit of glue by placing a small amount onto the part of shoelace and then slide the bead onto the spot of glue and wait for it to dry.
- To create the beaded strands/chains that clip around the back of the shoe. First, cut your non-stretched nylon beading thread to desired length (You can drape the thread around the shoe for reference) with extra thread to be able to attach the lobster clasps to either end.
- Take your cut length of beading thread and tie a strong knot around the loop of the lobster clasp and it is suggested to double knot for extra security. (Also, you could add a dab of glue on the knot)
- Thread your beads and charms onto the length of thread and finish it off with another lobster clasp making sure to knot it together and cut any excess thread.
- Then you can clip these onto the shoelaces of the shoe or the eyelet of the shoe.
