Moonlit Dreams Cot Quilt Project

What you'll need:

All fabric should be 100% cotton, washed and pressed.

1/4 seam allowance is used throughout unless indicated.

Please read all instructions carefully before commencing the quilt.

Instructions

Cutting

Centre Panel

Cut Centre Panel to measure 31" x 41".


Smaller Panels (for lower border)

Cut 3 panels 10.25" square.


Grey Fabric

  • Cut 4 x 3.5" x 3.5" squares
  • Cut 4 x 3.5" x 5" rectangles
  • Cut 7 x 2.5" x 2.5" squares

White tone on tone fabric

Cut 7 x 2.5 x 2.5" squares


Patterned Moonlit Dreams fabric

Cut 2 x 5.5" strips across WOF and trim to 41" long


Striped Motive Moonlit Dreams fabric

(Note: Squares should be fussy cut to include animal shape in centre of square)

  • Cut 4 x 3.5" x 3.5" squares
  • Cut 7 x 2.5" x 2.5" squares
  • Cut 6 x 2.5" strips across WOF (for binding)

Sewing

Step 1 - Gather the large centre panel and pin one of the 5.5" strips of the patterned Moonlit Dreams fabric to each long side of the centre panel. Sew. Press seams to one side.

Step 2 - Gather all of the 2.5" squares (21 in total) of the 3 fabrics (grey, white, motive) and sew together to create the top border of the quilt.

Step 3 - Press seams to one side.

Step 4 - With right sides facing pin the top border to the centre panel. Sew. Press seams to one side.

Step 5 - With right sides facing, pin each of the grey 3.5" squares to a 3.5" square of the motive Moonlit Dreams fabric. Sew then press seams to one side.

Step 6 - With right sides facing, pin each of the grey 3.5" x 5" rectangles to the opposite side of the motive Moonlit Dreams fabric. Sew then press seams to one side.

Step 7 - With right sides facing, pin one of the strips created in Step 6 to the right side of each of the 3 Moonlit Dreams panels. Sew then press seams to one side.

Step 8 - With right sides facing, pin the strip to each of the Moonlit Dreams panels on the opposite side.

Step 9 - With right sides facing, pin the remaining strip to the left-hand side of the end panel. Sew and press seams. Your bottom border is now complete.

Step 10 - With right sides facing and ensuring panels are facing the right way, pin the bottom border to the centre panel. Sew then press seams to one side.

Your quilt top is now complete.

Step 7 - Lay the backing, batting and quilt top and baste together. Quilt as desired.

Step 8 - Join binding strips, fold in half and iron. Sew binding around quilt.
