INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1. First cut out each of your 12 picture squares from your panel piece 18x18cm, and cut your white Prima into 48 strips 2x25cm.
Step 2. Next from each of your six coloured fabrics, cut eight strips 3.5x30cm.
Step 3. Sewing with a 5mm allowance, to create a block sew a strip of white prima to each side of a picture square. Trim the excess and next sew a white prima strip to the top and bottom, creating a neat white border.
Step 4. Now take four matching colour strips and sew a strip to each side of your white prima, trim the excess and finish with a colour strip to the top and bottom. Press and trim the excess.
Step 5. Repeat steps 3-4 until you have 12 completed blocks. Layout in a mixed pattern 3 across x 4 down and sew together, pressing between each new seam.
Step 6. Once your patchwork front is done, cut your
batting and backing size to match.

Next sew your two remaining border strips along the top and bottom of your patchwork, press and trim. Your patchwork front should now be approx. 8cm wider and longer than your batting and backing.
Step 8. Baste all three layers together leaving an equal overhang of your patchwork on each side.
Step 9. Quilt all three layers together.
Step 10. To finish, fold your 5cm overhang in half twice, folding over onto your backing for a neat slimline border finish. Pin and sew into place, remembering to trim and fold in your corners.
