MONKEY TWIST & TINSEL EMBELLISHED CHRISTMAS MINI SACK
Level: Beginner
What you'll need:
- Moda Vera Monkey Twist 100 g ball
- Col. Snowstorm x 3.
- Jolly & Joy Tinsel Yarn 50g ball:
- Green, Gold, Red x 1 each
- Size 9 mm circular needle (60 cm) or size required to give correct tension.
- Size 4.50 mm needles.
- Scissors, yarn needle, tape measure
Measurements
Circumference (approx.): 71 cm
Length (approx.): 48 cm
Tension
8.5 sts and 13 rows to 10 cm over stocking st, using 9 mm needles and Monkey Twist.
Instructions
Sack
Using 9 mm circular needle and Monkey Twist, cast on 60sts.
1st rnd - Knit.
Rep 1st round until work measures 42cm from beg.
Eyelet rnd - K2tog, yfwd, rep from around to end.
Next rnd - Knit.
Rep last rnd until work measures 47cm from beg.
Break off Monkey Twist.
Trim -
Using 3 strands of Tinsel (Red) together …
Next rnd - Purl.
Next rnd - Knit.
Next rnd - Purl.
Cast off loosely knitways.
Twisted Cord
Make a twisted cord, using Monkey Twist cutting a length approx. 3 m long. Thread the twisted cord through eyelets, beg and ending at centre front.
Trees- make 3, one in each col.
Using 2 strands of Jolly Tinsel together and 4.50 mm needles, cast on 4 sts.
Work 4 rows stocking st.
Cast on 4 sts at beg of next 2 rows … 12 sts.
Next row - K2tog, knit to last 2 sts, K2tog.
Next row - Purl.
Rep last 2 rows until 4 sts rem, ending with a purl row.
Next row - (K2tog) twice … 2 sts.
Next row - P2, turn. K2tog. Fasten off.
Baubles- make 3 in each col.
Using 4.5 0mm needles, cast on 4 sts
Cast off all sts
Using wool needle, gather cast-on sts, making a bauble.
Finishing
Do not press. Attach baubles to any contrast col. tree. Neatly sew all 3 trees to front of Sack as pictured or desired. Sew in ends.
