Method

Cut fronts, backs, sides, and floors of all houses using tone-on-tone fabric and fusible fleece. Fuse fleece to the wrong sides of fabric pieces.

Applique

1. Cut small amounts of fabric from the remaining fabrics for doors, windows, parcels, Nutcrackers, lights, and holly. I would suggest 4" x 6" rectangles. Fuse these to the appliqué fusible of your choice.
2. Using small scissors, fussy cut around the Nutcrackers, holly, and baubles. Cut the doors, windows, and parcels from the remaining fabrics, remove the paper, and fuse to the sides of houses. Using a straight stitch, appliqué the pieces down, adding cross lines for windows and parcels.
3. Cut the ric rac to fit the fronts and backs of each of the houses and sew to the gutter line with a straight stitch.
4. Sew the sides of the houses from the roofline to the floor to make a cube.
5. Sew the sides of the roofs together, leaving the upper top open. For the Tall & Skinny house, leave one side of this partially unsewn for turning. These will be sewn last. Sew the base on all four sides of the house.
6. Stitch the gables of the house together, leaving a space to turn the house right side out.
   Turn the house right side out.
7. Fill the bottom of the houses with some of the filling pellets and then stuff with regular filling.
   Stitch the top of the roof closed.
8. To make the roofs, cut roofs and eaves out and fuse fusible fleece to the roof pieces. Then sew around all sides of the roofs and eaves with the fabrics right sides together, leaving a small section open to turn right sides out.
9. Turn right sides out. Fold in the unstitched seam line and press. Topstitch close to the edge all around the house, catching in the unsewn seam. Glue the top of the roofs to the houses. I put a line of glue on the gable and on the gutter line. You will need to pin the roof in place until the glue dries.

Tall & Skinny

1. Cut 2 rectangles @ 8 1/2"x 4 1/2" Then cut the roof angles on front and back of the house by marking 1 1/2" from the corners and cut diagonally along that line. (As in diagram)
2. Cut 2 rectangles for the sides @ 9 1/4" x 2 1/2".
3. Cut 1 rectangle 4 1/2" x 2 1/2" for floor
4. Cut windows and doors in 1" strips or 3/4" in squares or rectangles. You can cut curves into the top of some of your windows and doors. Let your imagination rule

House A

1. Cut 2 rectangles @ 8 1/2" x 6 1/2". Then cut the roof angles on front and back of the house by marking 1 3/4 " from the corners and cut diagonally along that line. (As in diagram)
2. Cut 2 rectangles 11" x 2 1/2" for the sides.
3. Cut 1 rectangle 8 1/2" x 2 1/2" for floor
4. Cut windows as above

House B

1. Cut 2 rectangles @ 4 1/2" x 6 1/2". Then cut the roof angles on front and back of the house by marking 1 1/4 " from the corners and cut diagonally along that line. (As in diagram)
2. Cut 2 rectangles 6 1/2" x 2 1/2" for the sides.
3. Cut 1 rectangle 4 1/2" x 2 1/2" for floor
4. Cut windows and doors the same as above.
