CALLIGRAPHY CARDS

INSTRUCTIONS

YOU ARE SPECIAL CARD:

Step 1. Spray a fine mist of water over the watercolour palette to activate the paints

Step 2. Select a warm red colour, then mix with white to lighten the shade to a rosy pink hue. Paint a circle on the card then add more paint to intensify the colour. For a lighter colour, dilute with water.

Step 3. Let each circle dry between layers so the wet paint does not blend with another layer.

Step 4. Repeat the previous step with another colour, we used a mixture of orange and white paint.

Step 5. Let the card completely dry, then add black polka dots to some of the circles to add texture and detail. We used a small, fine brush to create fine dots, but you could also use a Posca paint pen, or another marker.

Step 6. Using the purple brush marker, we wrote 'You are Special' in the middle of the card. We recommend practising a couple of times on a blank paper or faintly writing on the card with pencil, going over it with the marker, then erasing the pencil lines. If you do use pencil, be careful not to smudge the marker when you erase your lines.

THANK YOU CARD:

Step 1. Spray a fine mist of water over the watercolour palette to activate the paints

Step 2. Select a light blue colour, and mix with white to lighten the shade to a baby blue.

Step 3. Paint wavy lines to frame the edge of the card.

Step 4. With the same brush, mix leftover blue paint with some purple and white paint to change it to a blue lavender hue. Then paint dots along the wavy lines to frame the card.

Step 5. Using the same paint, draw the stem of a flower and add some leaves.

Step 6. To paint the petals, dilute the paint with water to lighten the shade. Use the same blue lavender paint to colour in centre of the flower.

Step 7. Let the card completely dry.

Step 8. Using the purple brush marker, write 'Thank You' along the stem of the flower.
