CARE BEARS NOTEBOOK COVER

Instructions:

Cutting

From Care bears fabric cut two 52cm wide x 25cm rectangles.

From Cotton batting cut a 52cm wide x 25cm rectangle.

Note: 1.5cm seam allowance used throughout unless otherwise indicated.

Step 1 - Lay cotton batting down flat with one fabric rectangle right side up on top. Place remaining fabric rectangle face down on top and pin 3 layers together around the edge.

Step2 - Sew together around the edge leaving a 10cm opening in one short end. Clip corners and trim batting away from seam allowance (this removes bulk when topstitching). Turn right side out, pushing out corners and press. Press in edges of opening and topstitch around edge securing opening within stitching.

Step 3 - Fold cover in half and insert notebook into the fold. Fold ends in over the cover and pin close to at top and bottom edges of the notebook at both front and back of the cover. Take care not to pull the cover too tight so cover is not stretched or warped.

Step 4 - To create the pockets in the cover carefully remove notebook and with inside face up stitch across top and bottom edges at pins.
Backstitch at beginning and ends of stitching. Add extra rows of stitching across top and bottom of the cover between first row of stitching and the top and bottom of the cover.

Step 5 - Insert front cover of notebook into front pocket then allow the inside of the notebook to fall forward whilst inserting back cover of notebook into back pocket. Close notebook.
