Step 2 - Layer fabrics by placing one of the sewn fabric pieces right side down, then insulative fleece, then the plain calico/ plain cotton on top with right side up. Pin all layers together. Repeat with other cut fabrics using the cotton batting instead of the insulative fleece.

Step 3 - With washable pencil/marker and a ruler, draw lines on calico/plain cotton fabric at a 45-degree angle with lines 25 mm apart. Quilt fabrics together by sewing along the marked lines through all layers.

Step 4 - Using template provided, trace one pot holder shape onto calico/plain cotton side of one of the quilted fabrics, aligning the marking on template for the middle seam. Repeat to other quilted fabrics.

Cut out each pot holder 1 cm out from the sewing outline.

Step 5 (Optional) - To create a hanging loop, cut one piece of Micro Spot fabric measuring 18 cm long by 3.5 cm wide. Press under 5 mm along each of the longer edges of the fabric, then press strip in half aligning the pressed long edges. Pin, then top stitch strip along both long edges.

Pin the raw end of loop to the top left corner of one of the pot holder pieces on the fabric side with the loop facing towards the center of holder. Stitch in place to edge.

Step 6 - With right sides facing, place pot holders together, aligning all edges and seams. Sew together just inside the stitching outline, but leaving a 7 cm gap along the base edge. Trim seam and clip curved corners then turn pot holders' right way out through the opening at the base of the holders.

Press flat with the opening seam allowance pressed to the inside of holder. Hand stitch opening closed. Top stitch around all edges of the pot holder. Press flat.
