24 sts x 30 rows to 10cm over stocking st, using 4.00mm needles.

NOTE 1 - Scarf is worked in stripes, starting with the lightest colour and finishing with the darkest colour or vice versa.
NOTE 2 Colour changes are made when the balls are close to completion and at either end of a row. Then next colour is started. Using 4.00mm needle and MC, cast on 8 sts.
1st Row - K1, yfwd, sl1, K1, psso, K2, K2tog, yfwd, K1.
2nd and foll alt Rows - Inc in first st, purl to last st, inc in last st.
3rd Row - Inc in first st, knit to last st, inc in last st ... 12 sts.
5th Row - Inc in first st, K3, yfwd, sl1, K1, psso, K2, K2tog, yfwd, K3, inc in last st ... 16 sts.
7th Row - Inc in first st, knit to last st, inc in last st ... 20 sts.
9th Row - Inc in first st, K7, yfwd, sl1, K1, psso, K2, K2tog, yfwd, K7, inc in last st ... 24 sts.
10th Row - As 2nd row.
Rows 7 to 10 incl form patt for rem, cont in patt inc one st at each end of every row until there are 278 sts.
Work 2 rows patt. Cast off loosely.
EDGING
With right side facing, using 4.00mm crochet hook and rem yarn of last colour used.
1st round - Work 1 round dc evenly along all sides of shawl, working 3dc in each corner, taking care to keep work flat.
TO MAKE UP
DO NOT PRESS. Sew in all ends.
