O'GO DASH AROUND CROCHET HAT
Level: Intermediate
What you'll need:
- 'Caron' O'go 180g 1 ball, col baja
- 6mm and 6.5mm crochet hooks
- Scissors
- Needle
Size - One size to fit Adult.
Tension
9 sts and 11 rows = 10 c in split dc pat with larger hook.
Special Abbreviations
Dcbl = Double crochet through back loop only
Spldc = Split double crochet: work dc between 'legs' of stitch (splitting stitch) instead of through top loops
Instructions
Dc2togspl = Draw up a loop in each of next 2 dc between 'legs' of stitch. Yoh and draw through all 3 loops on hook
Hat
Note: When working from chart, carry yarn not in use loosely across top of work. Work next row over strand of yarn which is not in use.
Do not join at ends of rnds unless otherwise stated. Cont working in spiral placing marker on first st of rnd for easier counting.
Ribbing: With A and smaller hook, ch 8.
1st row: 1 dc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch to end of chain. Turn. 7 dc.
2nd row: Ch 1. 1 dcbl in each st to end of row. Turn.
Rep last row 50 times more.
Change to larger hook and proceed as follows:
Set-up rnd: Ch 1. Work 52 dc across long side of ribbing. Do not join. Work in continuous rnds. PM for beg of rnd.
Working in spiral, work Chart to end of chart, noting 2-st rep will be worked 26 times, reading rnds from right to left.
1st rnd: 1 spldcc in each dc around.
Rep last rnd, and cont working Chart until 21st rnd of Chart is complete.
Break all colors but B.
Shape crown:
1st rnd: With B, *1 spldc in each of next 11 sts. Dc2tog. Rep from * around. 48 sts.
2nd rnd: *1 spldc in each of next 6 sts. Dc2togspl. Rep from * around. 42 sts.
3rd and alt rnds: 1 dpldc in each dc around.
3rd rnd: *1 spldc in each of next 5 sts. Dc2togspl. Rep from * around. 36 sts.
4th rnd: *1 spldc in each of next 4 sts. Dc2togspl. Rep from * around. Join C. Break B. 30 sts.
5th rnd: With C, *1 spldc in each of next 3 sts. Dc2togspl. Rep from * around. 24 sts.
6th rnd: *1 spldc in each of next 2 sts. Dc2togspl. Rep from * around. 18 sts.
7th rnd: *1 spldc in each of next st. Dc2togspl. Rep from * around. 12 sts.
Break yarn, leaving a long end. Thread end through rem sts. Pull tightly. Fasten securely. Sew ends of ribbing together.
Pompom: Wind 2 strands of B and C, 1 strand each of D and E around 4 fingers 40 times. Tie tightly in the middle and leave a long end for attaching to Hat. Cut loops at both ends and trim to smooth round shape. Sew securely to top of Hat.
