MONKEY BEANIE

WHAT YOU'LL NEED
- 'Moda Vera' Monkey 100g x 1 ball 1st Colour (C1-cream)
- Monkey Twist 100g x 1 ball 2nd Colour (C2-print)
- A pair 9mm Knitting Needles or size required to give correct tension
- Medium size pom pom maker
- Scissors
- Yarn needle
- Tape measure
INSTRUCTIONS
MEASUREMENTS:
To fit head (approx) 56-58cm
TENSION:
8.5 sts and 13 rows to 10cm over stocking st, using 9mm needles.
BEANIE:
Using 9mm needles and C1, cast on 49 sts. Beg Rib - 1st row (RS) - K1, P1, K1, rep from to end.
2nd row - P1, K1, P1, rep from to end. Rep 1st and 2nd rows until work measures 6cm from beg, ending with a 2nd row.
Break off C1.
Using C2, Next row - Knit.
Beg Patt - 1st row (WS) - K2, P1, K3, P1, rep from to last 2 sts, K2.
2nd row - P2, K1, P3, K1, rep from to last 2 sts, P2.
Rep last 2 rows until work measures 18cm from beg, ending with a 1st row.
Shape Crown - 1st row (RS) - P2, K2, P2tog, P1, rep from to last 3 sts, K1, P2 ...
38 sts.
2nd row - K2, P1, K2, rep from to end.
3rd row - P2tog, K1, P2tog, rep from to end ... 25 sts.
4th row - K1, P1, K1, rep from to end.
5th row - P1, sl 1, K2tog, psso, P1, rep from to end ... 13 sts.
6th row - K1, P1, K1, rep from to end.
Break off yarn leaving end. Run end through rem sts, draw up tightly and fasten off securely.
FINISHING:
DO NOT PRESS. Using half mattress st, join side edges together to form centre back seam. Sew in all ends. Using C1, make a pompom and attach securely to top of beanie.
