MARVEL MAGIC STRIPE FINGERLESS GLOVES
Level: Intermediate
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
- "4 Seasons" Marvel Magic Stripe 8ply 100g x 1 ball.
- 1 pair each 3mm and 3.75mm knitting needles or sizes required to give correct tension
- Scissors, yarn needle, tape measure.
SIZE
To Fit Hand (approx) cm: 15 (child), 18 (lady), 21 (man)
TENSION
23 sts x 32 rows to 10cm over stocking st, using 3.75mm needles.
Note - These Gauntlets have been worked on smaller needles and a firmer tension than normally recommended for a firm fabric.
INSTRUCTIONS
RIGHT GAUNTLET
Using 3mm needles, cast on 34 (42-50) sts.
Beg Cuff -
1st row (RS) - K2, P1, K1, rep from to end.
Rep 1st row until cuff measures 4 (5-6) cm from beg, working last row on WS.
Change to 3.75mm needles.
Work 2 rows stocking st.
3rd row - K18 (22-26), M1, K1, M1, knit to end ... 36 (44-52) sts.
Work 3 rows stocking st, beg with a purl row.
7th row - K18 (22-26), M1, K3, M1, knit to end ... 38 (46-54) sts.
Work 3 rows stocking st, beg with a purl row.
11th row - K18 (22-26), M1, K5, M1, knit to end ... 40 (48-56) sts.
Cont inc in this manner working 2 more sts between 'M1's in every foll 4th row until there are 42 (52-62) sts, ending with an inc row.
Next row - Purl.
Beg Thumb -
1st row (RS) - K28 (34-40), turn.
2nd row - P11 (13-15), turn, cast on 3 sts ... 14 (16-18) sts.
Work 2 rows stocking st on these 14 (16-18) sts.
Work 2 rows rib as for cuff.
Cast off loosely in rib. Break off yarn leaving a long end.
With RS facing, rejoin yarn to last st on right-hand needle and knit up 3 sts from cast on sts at base of thumb, knit to end ... 34 (42-50) sts.
Work 3 rows stocking st, beg with a purl row.
Work in rib as for cuff until rib measures 2 (3-4) cm, working last row on WS.
Cast off loosely in rib. Break off yarn leaving a long end.
LEFT GAUNTLET
Work as for Right Gauntlet to .
3rd row - K15 (19-23), M1, K1, M1, knit to end ... 36 (44-52) sts.
Work 3 rows stocking st, beg with a purl row.
7th row - K15 (19-23), M1, K3, M1, knit to end ... 38 (46-54) sts.
Work 3 rows stocking st, beg with a purl row.
11th row - K15 (19-23), M1, K5, M1, knit to end ... 40 (48-56) sts.
Cont inc in this manner working 2 more sts between 'M1's in every foll 4th row until there are 42 (52-62) sts, ending with an inc row.
Next row - Purl.
Beg Thumb -
1st row - K25 (31-37), turn, cast on 3 sts ... 28 (34-40) sts.
2nd row - P14 (16-18), turn.
Work 2 rows stocking st on these 14 (16-18) sts.
Work 2 rows rib as for cuff. Break off yarn, leaving a long end.
Cast off loosely in rib.
With RS facing, rejoin yarn to last st on right-hand needle and knit up 3 sts from cast on sts at base of thumb, knit to end ... 34 (42-50) sts.
Work 3 rows stocking st, beg with a purl row.
Work in rib as for cuff until rib measures 2 (3-4) cm, working last row on WS.
Cast off loosely in rib. Break off yarn, leaving a long end.
FINISHING
DO NOT PRESS. Using a flat seam and long ends left after casting off, join thumb and side seams.
