INSTRUCTIONS

HEXAGON MOTIF

Using 3.5mm hook, make a magic circle.

Round 1: Ch2 (counts as 1tr), 1tr into ring, ch2, 2tr into ring, rep from 4 times, ch2, join with a sl st in top of ch2. (6 2tr-clusters separated by ch2). Pull the yarn tail to close the circle.

Round 2: Ch3 (counts as 1tr), 1tr into ea of next 2 tr, (1tr, ch 2, 1tr) in sp, 1tr into ea of next 2 tr, rep from 4 times, 2tr into each of next 2 tr, 1tr in sp, ch2. Join with a sl st in top of ch3.

Round 3: Ch3 (counts as 1 tr), 1tr in ea of next 4 tr, (1tr, ch2, 1tr) in sp, 1tr in each of next 4 tr, rep from 4 times, 1tr in sp, ch2, join with sl st in top of ch3.

Fasten off and weave in ends.

HEXAGON THROW

Make 625 hexagons in desired colours, this throw has up to 10 hexagons in each colour.

To make it easier to sew this throw together, separate in colour groups of 25 hexagons each and hand sew each panel together, checking colour placement by setting out and pinning together before sewing blending colours from panel to panel.

Sew in 5 rows of 5 hexagons in each panel using matching sewing thread. Once 25 panels have been made, sew these panels together in 5 rows of 5 panels.

Note - The idea of this throw was to make it with relatively random colour groupings but with some thought to blending and joining the colours together. The colours were set out before sewing each panel and checked as to how they would sit with other panels so they would blend and have a smooth transition from one colour to another butstill keeping a style that is free-hand.
