FAUX MO BEANIE

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
- "Moda Vera" Faux Mo 30g x 1 ball each Main Colour (M) Black, 1st Contrast (C1) Lilac, 2nd Contrast (C2) Blue, 3rd Colour (C3) Cream and 4th Contrast (C4) Donkey.
- 1 pair each 4.50mm and 3.75mm knitting needles or size required to give correct tension.
- Scissors, yarn needle, tape measure
SIZE
To Fit Head (approx): 56 cm (Lady)
TENSION
18 sts and 28 rows to 10cm over patt, using 4.50mm needles.
INSTRUCTIONS
BEANIE
Using 3.75mm needles, cast on 105 sts.
1st row (RS) - K2, P1, K1, rep from to last st, K1.
2nd row - K1, P1, K1, rep from to end.
Last 2 rows form rib.
Cont in rib until work measures 4cm from beg, ending with a 1st row.
Next row (WS) - Rib 6, rib 2tog, rib 5, rep from to last st, rib 1 ... 91 sts.
Change to 4.50mm needles.
Beg Patt -
Using C1, 1st row (RS) - K1, yfwd, K2tog, rep from to end.
2nd row - Purl.
3rd row - Sl 1, K1, psso, yfwd, rep from to last st, K1.
4th row - Purl.
Rows 1 to 4 incl form patt.
Work a further 36 rows patt in stripes of 4 rows C2, 4 rows C3, 4 rows C4, 4 rows M, 4 rows C1, 4 rows C2, 4 rows C3, 4 rows C4 and 4 rows M ... 40 rows patt in all.
Shape Crown -
Using M only for rem, 1st row (RS) - K1, K2tog, K7, rep from to end ... 81 sts.
Work 3 rows stocking st, beg with a purl row.
5th row - K1, K2tog, K6, rep from to end ... 71 sts.
Work 3 rows stocking st, beg with a purl row.
9th row - K1, K2tog, K5, rep from to end ... 61 sts.
10th row - Purl.
11th row - K1, K2tog, K4, rep from to end ... 51 sts.
12th row - Purl.
13th row - K1, K2tog, K3, rep from to end ... 41 sts.
15th row - Purl.
15th row - K1, K2tog, rep from to end ... 21 sts.
Break off yarn leaving a long end.
Thread yarn through rem sts, draw up tightly and fasten off securely.
FINISHING
DO NOT PRESS. Using mattress st and long end, join side edges together matching stripes to form centre back seam.
