BRIGHTON 8PLY LION HEADBAND
Level: Intermediate
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
- 4 Seasons Brighton Cotton 8ply 50g: Lion - 1 ball 1st Colour (C1) Mustard, 1 ball 2nd Colour (C2) Yellow and 1 ball 3rd Colour (C3) - Natural Print
- 1 pair each 4mm and 3.25mm knitting needles or sizes required to give correct tension.
- A crochet hook for Lion Headband.
- Scissors, yarn needle, tape measure
Measurements
To Fit Head (approx): 52 - 54 cm
INSTRUCTIONS
HEADBAND
Using 4mm needles and C1, cast on 85 sts.
Complete as for Cat Headband.
EAR PIECES
Using 3.25mm needles and C1, cast on 27 sts.
Work 2 rows stocking st (1st row is RS).
3rd row - K12, sl 1, K2tog, psso, K12 ... 25 sts.
4th and every foll alt row - Purl.
5th row - K11, sl 1, K2tog, psso, K11 ... 23 sts.
7th row - K10, sl 1, K2tog, psso, K10 ... 21 sts.
9th row - K9, sl 1, K2tog, psso, K9 ... 19 sts.
Cont dec in this manner (working 1 st less before and after centre dec), in every foll alt row until 3 sts rem.
Next row - Purl.
Next row - Sl 1, K2tog, psso ... 1 st.
Fasten off.
Using C1, make a 2nd ear piece in same manner.
Using C2, make a further 2 ear pieces in same manner.
FINISHING
DO NOT PRESS. Using mattress st, join side edges of Headband tog to form a ring. Using mattress st, join one C1 ear piece to one C2 ear piece. Rep with rem 2 ear pieces. Sew ears securely in position to top of Headband as pictured. Wind C3 around a piece of cardboard 8cm wide and cut along one edge. Using crochet hook and 2 strands of C3 fringe evenly in purl sts between ears, in front of ears and alongside edges of headband, leaving section at lower edge of headband un fringed. Trim fringe to desired length.
