Special Abbreviations

2cl = 2tr cluster: (yoh, insert hook in specified st/sp, yoh, draw through st/sp, yoh, draw through 2 loops on hook) twice, yoh, draw through all 3 loops on hook.

3cl = 3tr cluster: (yoh, insert hook in specified st/sp, yoh, draw through st/sp, yoh, draw through 2 loops on hook) 3 times, yoh, draw through all 4 loops on hook.

Htr join = Half treble join: insert hook through back loop of specified st of finished motif, yoh, insert hook into st/sp of current motif, yoh and draw through, yoh and draw through all 3 loops on hook.

Note - Garment is made from motifs crocheted together, with side and sleeve seams sewn together and front/neck/bottom edging and sleeve edgings worked afterwards.

Instructions:

Motif 1

Using 4.5mm hook, make a magic ring.

1st round - 1ch (does not count as a st throughout), 12dc in ring, sl st to dc at beg ... 12dc.

2nd round - 3ch, 1tr in same st (counts as 2cl), * 3ch, 2cl in next st, rep from * around, 1tr in top of 2cl at beg (counts as 3ch sp) ... 12 x 2cls.

3rd round - 1ch, 1dc in same sp, * 3ch, miss next st, 1dc in next ch sp, rep from * around, 1tr in top of dc at beg ... 12dc, 12 ch sps.

4th round - 1ch, 2dc in same sp, * miss next st, (2dc, 3ch, 2dc) in next ch sp, rep from * to last st, miss last st, 2dc in next ch sp, 2ch, 1dc in dc at beg (counts as 3ch loop) ... 48dc, 12 x 3ch loops.

5th round - 3ch, 2cl in same 3ch loop (counts as 3cl), * miss next 4 sts, (3cl, 4ch, 3cl) in next 3ch loop, rep from * to last 4 sts, miss last 4 sts, 3cl in next 3ch loop, 1ch, 1tr in top of 3cl at beg (counts as 4ch sp) ... 24 x 3cls.

Join motifs to correspond with diagram.

Using half mattress st, sew side and sleeve seams.

Front and Bottom Edging

Using 4.5mm hook, join yarn to any st in centre of back bottom edge.

1st round - 3ch, work 1tr in each st, sp and motif join around, and (2tr, 1ch, 2tr) in the two corners, sl st into 3rd of 3ch at beg.

2nd round - 1ch, work 1 sl st in each st and 1ch around, sl st into sl st at beg.

3rd round - 1ch, work 1dc into each tr of 1st round, above the sl sts of 2nd round, and 3dc in the ch of each corner, sl st into dc at beg.

Fasten off.

Sleeve Edging

Complete in the same way as Front and Bottom Edging.

FINISHING
