BAMBOO COTTON BERET
Level: Easy
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
- "Moda Vera" Bamboo Cotton 50g x 2 balls.
- 1 pair each 4.50mm and 3.75mm knitting needles or size required to give correct tension.
- Scissors, yarn needle, tape measure
Size
To Fit Head (approx): 56 cm (Lady)
Tension
19 sts and 26 rows to 10cm over stocking st, using 4.50mm needles.
INSTRUCTIONS
BERET
Using 3.75mm needles, cast on 97 sts.
1st row (RS) - K2, P1, K1, rep from to last st, K1.
2nd row - K1, P1, K1, rep from to end.
Last 2 rows form rib.
Cont in rib until work measures 4cm from beg, ending with a 1st row.
Next row (WS) - Inc in first st, rib 1, inc in next st, rep from to end ... 146 sts.
Change to 4.50mm needles.
Work in stocking st, until work measures 9cm from beg, ending with a purl row.
Shape Crown -
1st row (RS) - K2, K2tog, K14, rep from to end ... 137 sts.
2nd and every foll alt row - Purl.
3rd row - K2, K2tog, K13, rep from to end ... 128 sts.
5th row - K2, K2tog, K12, rep from to end ... 119 sts.
Cont dec in this manner (working 1 less st between dec every time) in every foll alt row until 29 sts rem.
Next row - P1, P2tog, P1, rep from to last st, P1 ... 20 sts.
Break off yarn leaving a long end.
Thread yarn through rem sts, draw up tightly and fasten off securely.
FINISHING
DO NOT PRESS. Using mattress st and long end, join side edges together to form centre back and crown seam.
