BRIGHTON COTTON BLEND 8PLY CROCHET EASTER EGGS
LEVEL: INTERMEDIATE
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
- '4 Seasons' Brighton Cotton Blend 8ply 50g: 1 ball will make 6 single-colour, undecorated eggs
- Assorted yarn scraps or stranded cottons for embroidery
- 5mm crochet hook
- Polyester fill
- Scissors, yarn needle, embroidery needle

TENSION
Correct tension is not required for this project.
INSTRUCTIONS
PLAIN EGG
BEG
Using 3.5mm hook, make a magic ring, 1st round - 1ch, 6dc in ring, sl st into dc at beg.
2nd round - 1 ch, 2dc in same st, 2dc in each st around, sl st into dc at beg � 12 sts.
3rd round - 1ch, 2dc in same st, 1dc in next st, 2dc in next st, 1dc in next st, rep from around, sl st into dc at beg � 18 sts.
4th round - 1ch, 1dc in same st, 1dc in each st around, sl st into dc at beg.
5th round - 1ch, 2dc in same st, 1dc in each of next 2 sts, 2dc in next st, 1dc in each of next 2 sts, rep from around, sl st into dc at beg � 24 sts.
6th - 8th rounds - Rep 4th rnd.
9th round- 1ch, 2dc in same st, 1dc in each of next 3 sts, 2dc in next st, 1dc in each of next 3 sts, rep from around, sl st into dc at beg � 30 sts
10th - 16th rounds - Rep 4th rnd.
17th round - 1ch, 1dc in same st, dc2tog, 1dc in each of next 3 sts, rep from to last 4 sts, dc2tog, 1dc in each of last 2 sts, sl st into dc at beg � 24 sts.
18th round - 1ch, 1dc in same st, dc2tog, 1dc in each of next 2 sts, rep from to last 3 sts, dc2tog, 1dc in each of last 2 sts, sl st into dc at beg � 18 sts.
19th round - 1ch, 1dc in same st, dc2tog, 1dc in next st, rep from to last 2 sts, dc2tog, sl st into dc at beg � 12 sts.
If embroidering egg, do so at this point. Stuff firmly with polyester fill.
20th round - 1ch, dc2tog around, sl st into dc2tog at beg. Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Thread the tail through the front loops of the last rnd of sts and pull tight. Fasten and sew in ends.
STRIPED EGG
Use contrast colours to crochet rnds as desired to form stripes.
TEXTURED EGG
Work each st into the back loop of the st below.
BEG

2nd round- 1 ch, 2dc in same st, 2dc in each st around, sl st into dc at beg � 12 sts.

6th - 7th rounds - Rep 4th rnd.
8th round - 1ch, 2dc in same st, 1dc in each of next 3 sts, 2dc in next st, 1dc in each of next 3 sts, rep from around, sl st into dc at beg � 30 sts
9th - 13th rounds - Rep 4th rnd.
14th round - 1ch, 1dc in same st, dc2tog, 1dc in each of next 3 sts, rep from to last 4 sts, dc2tog, 1dc in each of last 2 sts, sl st into dc at beg � 24 sts.
15th round - 1ch, 1dc in same st, dc2tog, 1dc in each of next 2 sts, rep from to last 3 sts, dc2tog, 1dc in each of last 2 sts, sl st into dc at beg � 18 sts.
16th round - 1ch, 1dc in same st, dc2tog, 1dc in next st, rep from to last 2 sts, dc2tog, sl st into dc at beg � 12 sts.
Stuff firmly with polyester fill.
