SCULPEY PLACEMAT
Level: Easy
What you'll need:
- Sculpey Original Clay White 454g
- Sculpey Clay Tool Starter Kit
- Rolling pin
- Baking paper
- Oven
- Deco Art Crafters Acrylic Paint in: Pacific Blue, Bright Yellow, Dark Turquoise, Leaf Green. (We mixed the yellow and red to create the orange colour)
- Paint brushes
INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1 - Preheat the oven to 180degrees and place a sheet of baking paper onto a baking tray.
Step 2 - Print and cut out the leaf template.
Step 3 - Roll out the white sculpey to roughly 5mm thick between 2 sheets of baking paper. Then cut out the leaf shape by carefully tracing around the template using the knife end tool. Smooth the edges with the Blunt Point tool.
Step 3 - Move the leaf onto the prepared baking tray and cover with another sheet of baking paper.
Step 4 - Place in the oven and cook for 15 minutes. Remove from oven and allow to cool.
Step 5 - Once the sculpey has cooled, use the deco art paint to paint the sculpey. Starting with a medium sized brush, paint some larger abstract shapes onto the sculpey. Wait for the paint to dry before applying a second coat.
Step 6 - Once the base layer of paint has dried, use a smaller paint brush to paint decorative details of flowers and leaves to create an oasis inspired design.
Step 7 - Wait you all the paint to dry before using as a plate.
