HOW TO COLOUR FONDANT
Level: Easy
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
- Fondtastic Premium Fondant Tub White
- Wilton Icing colour set
- Toothpick
- Bowl for mixing
- Food safe gloves
INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1 - Add Dots Of Colour
Roll fondant into a ball, kneading until it's soft and pliable. Using a toothpick, add dots of icing colour or drops of flavour in several spots.
Helpful hint: Tint a small ball or enough fondant to cover a whole cake. As with any icing, tint colours at one time - matching colours later may be difficult. Add just a little of the concentrated icing colour at a time, until you arrive at the exact shade you want. If you'd rather not mix colour yourself, use pre-tinted fondant in a variety of pastel, primary, neon and natural shades.
Step 2 - Knead Colour
Knead colour or flavour into your fondant ball. We suggest using food-safe gloves when colouring fondant to keep your hands stain-free.
Step 3 - Knead Until Blended
Continue kneading until colour is evenly blended - add a little more colour or flavour if needed.
Helpful hint: Use the same method to incorporate flavouring or extracts to fondant. Any type of flavouring can be used - regular food flavours (vanilla, almond, etc.) or candy flavourings. Candy flavourings are very concentrated and should only be added by drops. Flavour the fondant lightly so it does not detract from the flavour of the cake.
