DIY FAUX FUR FOX COSTUME
Level: Beginner
What you'll need:
- Birch Non-Roll Elastic 1 Metre Length (White 20 mm)
- Birch Elastic Braid Hank (White 6 mm)
- Scissors
- Sewing machine
- 40 cm each of Fabric:
- Premium Sherpa (Cream)
- Poodle Fur (Saddle)
- Fun Fur (Black)
Instructions
Reference the downloadable project sheet for project pattern diagrams.
Mask
Step 1 - Using the templates provided, cut all the mask pieces out of selected colours.
Step 2 - Sew the nose onto the tip of the snout, then layer the snout over the main body of the mask.
Step 3 - Sew the lighter colour fabric to the tips of the ears, then attach the ears to the top of the mask.
Step 4 - Using narrow elastic, measure and cut a piece that allows the mask to be worn around the face. Sew ends on to sides.
Paw Covers
Step 1 - Using the templates provided, cut all the paw pieces out of selected colours.
Step 2 - Attach the light-coloured toes to the tips of the paws.
Step 3 - Measure and cut a length of elastic that secures the paws to the hands. The elastic will sit at the base of the fingers joining at the palms.
Optional - Add an extra length of elastic around the wrist at the end of the paw cover.
Step 4 - Attach the ends of the elastic to the sides of the paws.
Fox Tail
Step 1 - Using the templates provided, cut all the tail pieces out of selected colours.
Step 2 - Sew the lighter colour fur tip along the zig-zag edge to attach it to the main tail body.
Step 3 - With the wrong sides facing, lay the two tail sides on top of each other and sew around the edge.
Step 4 - Taking a length of elastic long enough to wrap around the waist, sew the ends together and attach to the straight top end of the tail.
