PENCIL & PENCIL CASE

Instructions:

Note: 1cm seam allowance unless noted.

Step 1- Cut out pieces from the Templates.

Step 2- With right side facing, pin then sew one of the eraser pieces to the pencil trim along one of the longer sides. Press seam open. Fuse the front end fleece piece to the back of one of the sewn fabric pieces. Trim back fleece to stitching. Repeat with other eraser and trim pieces, omitting the fleece and put this piece aside.

Step 3- Open zipper and place one side of zipper right way down on top of the right side of the raw long edge of the pencil trim fabric aligning edges. Place the front end lining piece of fabric right side down on top of sewn pencil end piece and zip. Using a zipper foot, sew zipper to fabrics through all layers. Press fabrics away from zipper and using a matching thread top stitch the pencil trim just inside each of the long edges and through the middle. Baste the edges of lining and pencil end piece together.

Step 4- Fuse Vliesofix to the back of each of the pencil ends and pencil tip pieces. Peel of the backing paper and place each pencil tip with back facing down on top of the pencil ends aligning the tip. Fuse in place. Top stitch the pencil tip just inside the tip edge.

Peel off the paper from the pencil ends and place glue side down on top of the right side of the pencil body aligning the tip edges. Fuse in place. Top stitch pencil end in place just inside the zig zag edges.

Step 5- On one of the pencil body, fuse the pencil body fleece to the back. Place the other side of zipper right way down on top of the right side of the raw long edge of the pencil body aligning edges. Place the front end lining piece of fabric right side down on top of sewn pencil body piece and zip. Using a zipper foot, sew zipper to fabrics through all layers. Press fabrics away from zipper and using a matching thread top stitch the pencil body just inside zip seam. Baste the edges of lining and pencil body together.

Top stitch lines through all layers on the pencil body from each of the pencil top points back to the zipper.

Step 6- Pin and sew the other pencil body to the put aside eraser pencil sewn pencil ends. Press seam open.

Fuse the back pencil fleece to the back of sewn fabric. As per the front, top stitch the pencil trim and through the pencil body.

Step 7- Pin the back lining piece to the back of the sewn fabric piece over the fleece. Sew in place 5mm in from outer edges.

Open the zipper halfway for turning out. With right sides facing pin the pencil back to the pencil front, aligning all seams and edges. Sew together. Trim fleece back to stitching, trim seams, zipper ends and clip corners. Overlock all seams to neaten.

Turn pencil case back out the right way and press all sides flat.
