• A pair 8.00mm (US 11), (UK 0) Knitting Needles or size that gives correct tension/gauge.
• A Yarn Needle, Matching plain yarn for sewing seams, 1 Button.

TENSION/GAUGE

8 sts and 11 rows to 10 cms/4 ins over stocking st, using 8.00mm (US 11), (UK 0) Knitting Needles.

Note - Correct tension/gauge is essential for a successful handknit.

CREATE

Back and Fronts (worked in one piece to armhole)

Using 8.00mm (US 11), (UK 0) Needles, cast on 48 (52-56) sts. Knit 1 row (WS). Work in stocking st (beg with a knit row) until work measures 17 (20-23) cms/7 (8-9) ins from beg, ending with a purl row.

Divide for back and fronts

Next row - K12 (13-14), turn. Cont on these 12 (13-14) sts for Right Front. Work 9 rows stocking st, beg with a purl row.

Shape neck

Next row - Cast/bind off 2 sts, knit to end = 10 (11-12) sts. Work 1 row. Dec one st at neck edge in every row until 8 (8-9) sts rem. Work 3 (2-4) rows. Cast/bind off rem sts for shoulder. With RS facing, join yarn to rem sts and K24 (26-28), turn. Cont on these 24 (26-28) sts for Back and work 15 (15-17) rows stocking st, beg with a purl row.

Shape shoulders

Cast/bind off 8 (8-9) sts at beg of next 2 rows. Cast/bind off rem 8 (10-10) sts loosely. With RS facing, join yarn to rem 12 (13-14) sts for Left Front. Work 10 rows stocking st, beg with a purl row.

Shape neck

Next row - Cast/bind off 2 sts, purl to end = 10 (11-12) sts. Dec one st at neck edge in every row until 8 (8-9) sts rem. Work 2 (1-3) row/s. Cast/bind off rem sts for shoulder.

FINISHING

DO NOT PRESS. Using yarn needle, darn in ends. Using yarn needle, matching plain yarn and mattress st seam, join shoulder seams. Sew a button to left front neck. To fasten, push button through fabric.
