Uplift Your Outdoor Entertainment Areas With An Outdoor Rug From Spotlight

Enjoying the outdoors doesn't have to mean dirt, wood or concrete floors that are hard and cold underfoot - transform your outdoor areas with outdoor rugs instead!

At Spotlight we know the transformative power of a good rug or mat, which is why we're pleased to offer you quality outdoor rugs perfect for your deck or veranda. These outdoor rugs can add colour and style to your space, as well as create a soft and durable surface for you to walk on that will help protect your floor from damage.

Outdoor rug ideas

If you have an outdoor dining set, then pop a large outdoor rug underneath (enough to sit under the table and the chairs) to give your space a more structured and cohesive look.

For more simple chair and side table setups, a small, round outdoor rug underneath the table will help centre it in your space.

Or for very long decks, try using a longer outdoor rug down the middle (hall runner style) to bring the space together. If you are worried your outdoor rugs will sleep, try securing them with any of our floor grippers.

Outdoor rug FAQs

What is an outdoor rug?

An outdoor rug is a decorative and protective rug that has been designed to withstand the rigours of elements like sun, wind, rain and dirt. Outdoor rugs are easy to clean, UV resistant and can withstand a lot of foot traffic, making them perfect for use on your back deck or veranda.

How to clean an outdoor rug

If giving it a shake over your railing and a vacuum isn't enough to clean it, you may need to wash your outdoor rug if your rug is made from materials that are safe to wash (synthetics like polyester or tough woven grass rugs). Hose down your rug on an incline to help the water run off, and give any stains a scrub with diluted dish soap to remove them. Pin to your clothesline to dry or, if it's colourfast, you can lay it in the sun to dry. Make sure both sides are dry and the floor it was on is clean before putting your rug back.

What is the best material for an outdoor rug?

Look for outdoor rugs made from durable weather-resistant materials. Synthetic materials like polypropylene and polyester or nylon are suitable, while natural outdoor rugs made out of grasses like jute and sisal are popular organic material choices.
