STRIPE STOCKINGS CUSHION

• 30cm Sparkle Xmas Stockings, cream
• 60cm 'Prima Homespun', natural unseeded
• Matching 'Gutermann' 100% cotton thread
• Rotary cutter, mat & quilters rulers
• Quilting pins, tape measure
• Scissors, seam ripper
• Sewing machine with 1/4" foot & walking foot
• 1 x size 20 Cushion insert (51cm x 51cm)

REINDEER CUSHION

INSTRUCTIONS

STRIPED STOCKINGS CUSHION

Step 1. From Sparkle Xmas Stockings fabric cut 3 x 3" strips across the width of the fabric taking care not to cut through the centre of stockings. Cut each strip in half to make 6 x 21" strips.

Step 2. From the natural unseeded homespun cut 3 x 2" strips across the width of the fabric and two 20" x 14" rectangles for the back. Cut 3 x 2" strips in half to make 6 x 21" strips.

Step 3. Lay out the 5 stocking strips and 6 homespun strips starting and ending with a homespun strip. Sew strips together, sewing seams in alternating directions to help prevent bowing. Press seams downwards.

Step 4. For the cushion backs, sew a double hem along one 20" long side of each rectangle - fold and press under 1/4" then another 1/4" and topstitch hem in place.

Step 5. With cushion front right side up, place one hemmed back piece face down on top, aligning top and side raw edges with hemmed edge towards the centre. Pin in place. Place other piece face down on top aligning bottom and side edges with hemmed edge overlapping the other piece in the centre. Pin in place.

Step 6. Sew together around all four sides using 1/4" seam allowance. Clip corners and overlock or zigzag seams to neaten. Turn cover right side out and press flat. Place size 20 insert into cover with back edges overlapping.

REINDEER CUSHION

Step 1. From the black homespun cut one 20" square for the cushion front and two 20" x 14" rectangles for the back. For the cushion backs, sew a double hem along one 20" long side of each rectangle - fold and press under 1/4" then another 1/4" and topstitch hem in place.

Step 2. Trace template provided onto paper side of Legacy Fuse Under and cut out leaving a 1" border around the edge. Fuse onto the wrong side of Sparkle Xmas Baubles and cut out along the lines.

Step 3. Remove the backing paper and centre reindeer shape on cushion front. Fuse reindeer in place and using a small zigzag stitch and matching thread secure in place.

Step 4. With cushion front right side up, place one hemmed back piece face down on top, aligning top and side raw edges with hemmed edge towards the centre. Pin in place. Place other piece face down on top aligning bottom and side edges with hemmed edge overlapping the other piece in the centre. Pin in place.

Step 5. Sew together around all four sides using 1/4" seam allowance. Clip corners and overlock or zigzag seams to neaten. Turn cover right side out and press flat. Place size 20 insert into cover with back edges overlapping.
