NIPPERS DOG CUSHION

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
- "Bella Baby" Baby Bliss Nippers 100g x 3 balls Main Colour (M) Oatmeal and 1 ball each 1st Contrast (C1) Charcoal, 2nd Contrast (C2) White and 3rd Contrast (C3) Caramel.
- A 5.50mm crochet hook, or size required to give correct tension.
- A 46cm x 46cm Cushion Insert.
- Small amount of hobby fill.
- Scissors, yarn needle, tape measure.
SIZE
Width (approx finished): 45 cm
Length (approx finished): 45 cm
TENSION
11 sts to 10cm over double crochet fabric, using 5.50mm hook.
INSTRUCTIONS
CUSHION
Using 5.50mm hook and M, make 51ch.
1st row (RS) - 1dc in 2nd ch from hook, 1dc in each ch to end, turn ... 50dc.
2nd row - 1ch (counts as 1dc), 1dc in each dc to end, turn.
Rep 2nd row until work measures 88cm from beg.
Fasten off.
EYE PATCH
Using 5.50hook and C1 make 3ch, sl st in first ch to form a ring.
1st round - 3ch (counts as 1tr), 11tr in ring, sl st in 3rd ch at beg ... 12tr.
2nd round - 3ch, 1tr in next st, 3tr in each of next 3 sts, 1tr in each of next 3 sts, 3tr in each of next 3 sts, 1tr in last st, sl st in 3rd ch at beg ... 24tr.
3rd round - 3ch, 1tr in each of next 2 sts, (3tr in next st, 1dtr in each of next 2 sts) twice, 3tr in next st, 1tr in each of next 5 sts, (3tr in next st, 1dtr in each of next 2 sts) twice, 3tr in next st, 1tr in each of next 2 sts, sl st in 3rd ch at beg ... 36tr.
Fasten off.
EYEBROWS (make 2)
Using 5.50mm hook and C3, make 2ch.
Next row - (1htr, 1tr, 1htr, 1dc) in 2nd ch.
Fasten off.
EYES (make 2)
Using 5.50mm hook and C1, make a magic ring.
1st round - 1ch (counts as 1dc, both here and next round only), 7dc in magic ring, sl st in 1ch at beg ... 8dc.
Using C2, 2nd round - 1ch, 2dc in next st, (1dc in next st, 2dc in next st) 3 times, sl st in 1ch at beg ... 12dc.
Fasten off.
SNOUT
Using 5.50mm hook and C2, make a magic loop.
1st round - 1ch, 8dc into magic loop, sl st in first dc at beg ... 8dc.
2nd round - 1ch, 1dc in next dc, 2dc in next dc, rep from to end, sl st in first dc at beg ... 12dc.
3rd round - 1ch, 1dc in each of next 2dc, 2dc in next dc, rep from to end, sl st in first dc at beg ... 16dc.
4th round - 1ch, 1dc in each of next 3dc, 2dc in next dc, rep from to end, sl st in first dc at beg ... 20dc.
5th round - 1ch, 1dc in each of next 4dc, 2dc in next dc, rep from to end, sl st in first dc at beg ... 24dc.
6th round - 1ch, 1dc in each of next 5dc, 2dc in next dc, rep from to end, sl st in first dc at beg ... 28dc.

NOSE
Using 5.50mm hook and C1, make a magic ring.
Next row - 2ch, (2tr, 2dtr, 3tr) in ring.
Fasten off.
TONGUE
Using 5.50mm hook and C3, make 4ch.
Next row - (1tr, 2dtr,2tr) in 4th ch from hook.
Fasten off.
EARS (make 2, beg at top)
Using 5.50mm hook and C1, make 21ch.
1st row - 1dc in 2nd ch from hook, 1dc in each ch to end, turn ... 20dc.
2nd row - 1ch, 1dc in each dc to end, turn.
3rd row - 1ch, dc2tog, 1dc in each dc to end ... 19dc.
4th row - 1ch, 1dc in each dc to last 3dc, dc2tog, 1dc in last dc ... 18dc.
Rep 3rd and 4th rows until 2dc rem. Fasten off.
FINISHING
DO NOT PRESS. Fold Cushion in half to form a pocket. Using half mattress st, join side seams. Sew Ears in position on each end of fold at top of cushion, gathering slightly as pictured. Place Snout in position as pictured and pad slightly with hobby fill. Slip st in position. Slip stitch, Nose, Eyes, Eyebrows and Tongue in position as pictured. Place cushion insert inside cushion and close remaining seam.
