FELT REINDEER ORNAMENTS
Level: Beginner
What you'll need:
- Craft Felt:
- 20 cm Brown
- 20 cm Red
- 20 cm Black
- 15 cm Ribbon
- Stuffing
Optional: if only making one ornament, 10 cm of felt will suffice)
Instructions
Reference the downloadable project sheet for project pattern diagrams.
Step 1 - With the brown felt, use the Body and Ear/Tail stencils to cut out two pieces, and the Antler stencil to cut out one piece. With the red felt use the Heart stencil to cut out one piece. With the black felt use the Eye stencil to cut out one piece.
Step 2 - Take the Eye piece and pin it in position on the outside of one of the Body pieces. Sew. Repeat for the heart.
Step 3 - Take the Antler piece and pin it on the inside of the other Body piece. Baste. Repeat for the Ear and Tail pieces.
Step 4 - Cut 15 cm of Ribbon. Fold in half and pin the open end on the Body piece. Baste.
Step 5 - Place the two Body pieces together, wrong sides together, and begin stitching around the edge. Keep an opening around the back/rump.
Tip - Blanket stitch creates a pleasing look. Just be cautious around the ears/tail.
Step 6 - Add stuffing, careful not to overstuff.
Step 7 - Continue sewing around the edge, closing the opening. Remove any baste stitches.
