DIY FLANNELETTE & PLUSH FLEECE BLANKET

Level: Beginner
What you'll need:
- 1.75 m Plaid Flannelette
- 1.5 m Polar Fleece
- Gutermann Polyester Thread (Colour 0 Black)
- Pins
- Scissors
- Ruler/Tape Measure
- Marker
Instructions
Step 1 - Cut a straight edge, selvage to selvage, on both the flannelette and polar fleece fabrics. Measure from this straight 1.5 m for the flannelette and 1.1 m for the polar fleece, cut along this line. Both pieces of fabric should now measure 1.5 x 1.1 m.
Step 2 - Lay the flannelette on top of the polar fleece, right sides together. Use pins along the edges to secure the two pieces in place. Leaving an opening (approx 15 cm) on one of the long edges, stitch around all edges at a 1/2 in (13 mm) seam allowance using a 3mm stitch length.
Step 3 - Trim the seam allowance on the corners, then use the opening to turn the blanket right sides out paying attention to turn the corners out completely.
Step 4 - Use a slip stitch to close the opening used for turning.
Step 5 - Trim your threads and enjoy your new blanket!
Tip - Stitching the two fabrics together with the bulky polar fleece on the bottom will help your fabric feed through your machine evenly.
