How do I use Candy Melt?

We always like to remind customers to read the manufacturer's instructions that accompany your new product thoroughly before use. Before you begin, ensure that all your utensils and bowls are thoroughly dried, as any remnants of water can cause the melted coating to harden and streak. To heat your candy melt to a liquid texture that is perfect for moulding, you need to soften the item first, and there are a number of ways that you can do this.

You can put your candy melt into a microwaveable bowl and microwave on the defrost setting for one minute. Stir thoroughly before continuing to microwave for 20 seconds, and stirring after each interval until your candy melt is the right consistency. You can also melt your candy using the double boiler method, add water to the bottom of the pan and heat to a simmer. Remove from the heat and place your candy melt in a pan, or bowl, on top, stirring consistently until completely melted. If you are melting a significant amount, you can also use your slow cooker on the lowest setting. You can melt up to around 5 pounds of candy this way. However, it is not a suitable method when using only small amounts. It is also important not to overheat your mixture, as this will result in the candy melt losing its proper consistency.

What do I need to know when using chocolate?

If you plan on making your own chocolates, then the only limit is your imagination. There are so many sweet treats that you can make with the number one favourite ingredient. First of all, consider which type of chocolate that you wish to use. White can be particularly challenging, and it is always recommended that you melt chocolate in a bowl over boiling water. However, it is important to remember that getting water into your melted chocolate will ruin the consistency.

If you are pouring your melted chocolate into moulds, it is recommended that you hold the mould at an angle as you fill it up and then gently tap on the surface to remove any bubbles. If you are hoping to add a chocolate-y touch to your cake, then check out the selection of moulding chocolate that we have available here at Spotlight. You are sure to find all that you need to create chocolatey goodies at Spotlight's guaranteed low prices.
