How to use liquid chalk markers
Paint chalk markers can be used much any regular marker - simply uncap the chalk marker and apply the tip to your chosen surface. Chalk markers create a bright, opaque line on most surfaces, and are most commonly used on glass. While they can usually be wiped away with a damp cloth, art created by chalk markers is permanent on non-porous surfaces like wood and concrete.
Chalk marker FAQs
What are chalk markers?
Chalk markers are a drawing tool that contains water-based, highly pigmented ink that is opaque and comes out with a unique chalky look. They don't contain any actual chalk and have a smooth tip that makes them easy to write with on most surfaces. Chalk markers are permanent on porous surfaces and can be wiped off using a damp cloth on non-porous surfaces.
How to season a chalkboard for chalk markers
If you want to use your liquid chalk markers on a traditional slate chalkboard, you must season it first so the ink isn't absorbed into the slate. You can use a spray-based acrylic sealer for this - apply two or three thin, even coats and let dry before applying your liquid chalk markers.
How to get chalk marker off chalkboard
If your chalk marker lines aren't coming off your chalkboard, then it probably means your chalkboard wasn't primed for use with liquid chalk markers. The best way to get liquid chalk off a surface it isn't meant to be on is to use a damp towel with a little vinegar mixed into the water. You can also add a little melamine, like the kind you find in a magic eraser, to lift the chalk marker.
