CHEERS NEON SIGN
LEVEL: EASY
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
- DIY Neon light kit. We used the pink kit.
- Wood slat hanging in white
- Paper and pencil
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
- Fishing line/clear thread
- Scissors/Wire Cutters
- 2 x AA batteries
INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1 - Choose which word you would like to create for your sign. Using the pencil and paper write your word out in the font/style you like, if you are not confident in doing this free hand you can print something out from the internet.
Step 2 - Once you have the word on paper, start to mould the wire from the Neon kit to follow the design of your word.
Step 3 - When you have finished the design in wire, it is now time to add the neon light rope to your wire design. Add the wire to the neon light rope using the wire that comes with the DIY neon light kit, clear fishing line or thread.
Step 4 - Tie off the ends in knots to secure. This can be a bit fiddly but if you continue wrapping as you go it will give a neat finished look. If you have any excess neon rope left over it can be hidden behind the wooden slat in the next step.
Step 5 - Now it's time to attach the light sign to the wooden slat. Use a hot glue gun to secure in place. Be careful to make sure the glue is mostly touching the wire and not the light rope as it may melt it. On the back of the slat you can secure the battery pack and any excess neon rope with blue tack.
Step 6 - Your sign is now ready to be hung!
Step 7 - Insert the 2 AA batteries into the battery pack.
Step 8 - Hang your sign and turn on!
