Instructions

Cutting

All strips are cut across the width of fabric unless otherwise stated.

From each of Fabrics A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H & I cut the following:

  • 2 x 8.5" strips for Template A
  • 2 x 7" strips for Template B
  • 1 x 2.5" strip for binding

Step 1 - Place Template A onto wrong side of an 8.5" strip, trace around the template and cut out. Cut 12 of Template A from all 9 fabrics.

Step 2 - Place Template B onto wrong side of a 7" strip, trace around the template and cut out. Cut 12 of Template B from all 9 fabrics.

Note - This will give a total of 108 of Template A and 108 of Template B giving a variety of fabric combinations for the blocks as only a total of 100 of each template is required.

Blocks

Each block consists of one Template A and one Template B. Select fabric combinations as you go or if preferred select and pair up all fabrics before you begin.

Step 3 - To sew Template A and Template B pieces together fold each piece in half to find the centre of each curve and finger press. Fold each end in to the centre and finger press.

Step 4 - Place template A on top and template B on the bottom with right sides facing and pin the centres together. Align ends of both pieces and pin. Match up halfway marks and pin.

Step 5 - Starting at one end sew slowly following the curve easing fabric as needed and realigning raw edges about every 1/2". Have needle in down position when stopping. Press seam to template A.

Repeat until you have 100 blocks.

Quilt Top

Step 6 - Lay out the blocks as desired in 10 rows with 10 blocks in each row.

For our quilt Rows 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9 had the blocks with the quarter circle in bottom left corner.

For Rows 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 had the blocks with the quarter circle in top right corner.

Step 7 - When happy with your layout sew the blocks in each row together. Press seams in one direction alternating the direction in each row.

Step 8 - Sew the rows together matching seams. Press seams in one direction.

Step 9 - Layer the backing, batting and quilt top and baste together. Quilt as desired.

Step 10 - Join the 6 x 2.5" binding strips together on the bias to make one long strip. Press in half lengthwise and bind mitering corners. Attach a label or sign and date your quilt.
